Purpose:
·
To develop innovative
ways to stimulate thought and advance new approaches to teaching students
Application
process:
The Pine
Tree Education Foundation has partnered with DonorsChoose to facilitate more
funds to Pine Tree personnel working directly with students. DonorsChoose,
a unique internet marketing resource for teachers, aims to improve public
education by engaging citizens in an online marketplace where teachers can
describe and individuals can fund specific student projects. The program
connects teachers and students with average citizens willing to help fund
education, a few dollars at a time. Their vision is a nation where students
in every community have the resources they need to learn.
Applicant
Eligibility:
Grants are
available to any Pine Tree ISD personnel working directly with students,
including teachers, counselors, librarians, and nurses. Applicants may
apply individually, as a grade-level or subject matter team, as a campus, or
as a vertical team of two or more campuses. In the case of team-based
proposals, a Project Director must be designated to assume overall
administrative responsibility for the project and all related
correspondence.
How
to Apply:
- Type in your grant application to DonorsChoose.org.
- Allow approximately 3 weeks for processing by
DonorsChoose.
- Only applications posted on DonorsChoose.com will be
considered in the Pine Tree Education Foundation grant process.
- All grant proposals must be printed by the applicant
from the DonorsChoose website. Attach a cover sheet with your name and
campus to the proposal. You may attach any other information you think
would be helpful with your hard copy.
- Turn in your hard copy by 4 pm on March 1, 2007.
- Hard copies may be sent by campus mail to Cathy
Shipp. Make sure you allow enough time for her to receive it by the
deadline.
Eligible
Projects: All
projects should offer an innovative, creative approach to either an
identified classroom need within PTISD established curriculum framework or
special student-based project conducted by counselors, librarians or
nurses. Proposals will be judged based on their innovative approach. Funds
may not replace normal funding from tax-based sources (i.e. campus
budgets). Products purchased with grant funds become the property of the
district, not the individual. Expenses for consumable or single events must
be justifiable.
Proposal
Review: The Grant
Committee of the Pine Tree Education Foundation shall competitively review
proposals. All proposals will be subject to number-coded, blind review
relative to applicant(s) and specific campuses. Accordingly, specific
reference to the applicant and campus should be limited to information on
the cover page. Before final announcement, the PTISD Curriculum and
Instruction Department will screen projects for the express purpose of
assuring compliance with District Guidelines.
