Our class is researching various units in our social studies book. We have chosen partners and are currently working on research outlines to gain information from our text on our topic. We will present Lesson 1 from our research topic to the class so that each group will be able to teach our class the research ideas learned from our study. The following is the outline the class is using for this research:

In our art classes we have these projects to complete:
1. NAME Project - we create a creature using the formation of our name.
2. Portfolio Sketch - our plan for the formation of our portfolio.
3. Portfolio - large envelope decorated with our name and things we like to do.
4. Portrait Sketching using grids.
5. Collages using magazines and painting techniques.

Our class will study maps and map skills in the first six weeks. These concepts will be found in the first units of the textbook and scattered map skill lessons found later in the textbook.
We will work on states, state capitals, and state abbreviations throughout the year.

The class will work with teacher to read and comprehend the Chapters 1-3. This will include a lesson outline including vocabulary, activities,and test for each lesson. The class and the teacher will work together on these activities to improve comprehension of ideas presented. Projects for this unit will be created by the teacher and the students.

The classes are presently working on name projects, portfolios, and collages. Name projects consists of creating a creature using their first names. These are colored with markers, mounted and displayed in the classroom. Portfolios are decorated with their name and pictures of activities they like to do and displayed in the classroom. Collages include torn paper, magazine, and paint creations. Hopefully,we can plan an art show at the end of the semester. The students are doing excellent work.
