I would like to take this opportunity to welcome you to Pine Tree Primary, and tell you a little bit about myself. I am the assistant principal for our campus, and I also teach Social Skills in a small group setting. I taught kindergarten on this campus for 6 years before accepting this position three years ago. I am very proud to be a part of Pine Tree because I am a Pine Tree graduate. I am excited to have the opportunity to work with you and your child this year.
I am married with a very active three year old daughter and a eight month old son. I have an B.A. in Interdisciplinary Studies and a Masters degree in Instructional Leasdership. I received both degrees from Stephen F. Austin. |
As you know, it is very important for pre kindergarten and kindergarten students to learn how to listen, follow directions, ask for help, use their manners, wait their turn, and other basic social skills. Learning these skills will allow our students to succeed in the classroom as well as in life.
I am conducting Social Skills classes each four weeks. I will work with small groups of students three days a week for 30 minutes each time. We will be discussing, modeling, and practicing theses basic social skills. It is basically the same thing the teachers are doing in the classroom, but in a small group setting. I hope to work with as many students as I can by the end of the year.
