| ATTENDANCE IS IMPORTANT |
 Attendance is so important to a student's success at school. Please make every effort to attend school each day. Most important, be on time and give 100%. |

TARDIES |
 Pine Tree Junior High School Tardy Policy:
• Teachers close their doors when the tardy bell rings. Students will be allowed to
enter the classroom and will be marked tardy.
• Students who are late to school in the morning due to extenuating circumstances
will need a parent to accompany them to the office to sign them in or provide a
doctor’s note to be excused.
• Students will be allowed morning parent sign in no more than three (3) times per
semester; subsequent tardies thereafter will be counted as unexcused and the
student will be assigned lunch detention.
• First period will be handled like all other periods.
• No teacher should hold over any students from a previous class period or allow
them to be late without a written permit being issued.
• Tardies will be monitored on a weekly basis.
• Daily tardies to class will result in lunch detention.
•Tardies (cumulative per semester):
•4th tardy –verbal warning
•5th tardy –one Saturday school
•6th tardy –two days (OCS)
•7th tardy or more –Administrative decision

TRUANCY |
 Truancy/Attendance Notice by Letter
Pine Tree High School/Pine Tree Junior High School will follow the guidelines set
forth by the State of Texas concerning truancy. Students and or parents or guardians shall
be notified by letter when the student has accumulated absences based on the following
guidelines per semester. The steps are as follows;
•2nd absence –letter from the assistant principal to parent/guardian
•5th absence –letter from assistant principal to parent/guardian
Doctor’s excuses need to be turned in within 3 days of the absence or the doctor notes
will need to be brought to court.
Truancy can be filed after the second letter has been sent.
Students who are not in compliance with the State’s 90% attendance law will be assigned
to Saturday school in order to receive credit in classes they have a passing grade in.
Students who are absent from school for any reason other than an emergency, will not be
allowed to participate in school related activities on that day or evening.
