The Five "C's"
The TEKS for LOTE or Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills for Languages Other Than English are the basis for the course. They are divided into five areas, with Communication being the key component.

The language skll areas of Listening, Speaking, Reading, Writing, Viewing, and Presenting will be addressed and implemented so that students will be successful communicatiing in Spanish at the Novice Level.

Grading
Grading will follow PTISD policy with at least 3 major grades and 7 daily grades per six-week grading period.

Each six weeks, one of the major grades will be "Participation". This is a cumulative composite grade which involves responding to questions in class, asking questions, volunteering, reading aloud, and overall usage of Spanish observed in the classroom.

Review of Spanish I - ABC's; Numbers; Dates; Question words; Directions; Commands; Adjectives; Verbs; To Be; Basic sentence structure; Common Q & A
