Welcome to Pine Tree Primary. My name is Cathy Gilbert and I am the Primary Counselor. I would like to take this opportunity to tell you a little about myself and our Counseling Program. I have been with Pine Tree Primary for several years, first as a Bilingual Teacher and for the last five years as the school counselor. I love working with young children and hope that along with the exemplary group of teachers and staff here at Pine Tree Primary, we can make this time a happy and successful one for you and your child.

One of my responsibilities as counselor is to teach our students about the importance of values. I do this through a character education curriculum sponsored by Chick-fil-A. The name of the curriculum is CORE ESSENTIALS. Once a month, I visit each classroom to teach a lesson on one of the following character traits:

*Initiative
*Respect
*Uniqueness
*Peace
*Orderliness
*Kindness
*Courage
*Joy
*Patience

Young children can begin to learn values like treating others with respect, making intelligent decisions, and reaching their goals, to name just a few.

Small group and individual counseling, parent workshops, coordinating testing programs, and collaborating with teachers and administrators for the success of our students are a few of the many ways I support the needs of our students.
