Pine Tree High School "Lifesaver" Program
CREDIT RECOVERY / CREDIT ACCELERATION PROGRAM

Credit Recovery is an alternative program for students who have failed at least one academic course and may be at risk of dropping out of school. It consists of self-contained classrooms with a student/teacher ratio of no more than 15/1. The program is self-paced, with courses based on state-approved curriculum. The course to be "recovered" has been attempted previously, but no credit was earned/awarded toward graduation requirements. There will be a grade ceiling on the course and no grade point average (GPA) points will be earned toward class ranking. Students are expected to conform to program requirements as deemed appropriate and necessary by the placement committee.

Credit Acceleration is a facet of this program designed for students who are interested in taking a course for the very first time. Credit Acceleration courses do not have a grade ceiling and will earn GPA points for class ranking. These students will adhere to the same admission process and review of the placement committee.

Parental consent is required for students under 18 years of age. Students must also master the state exit level exam before a high school diploma is awarded.
