Originally our program was called the Starfish Program because the following story illustrates our philosophy of the importance of each child. Recently, although our name has changed our sentiment about these children has certainly not changed.

The story that follows tells the significance of the Starfish.

A boy noticed an old man strolling on the beach. The old man would walk, then stop, pick something up and throw it back into the sea. The boy saw that the old man was throwing starfish back into the surf. "But there are millions of starfish on this beach," the kid said. "Do you think throwing a few back in makes a difference?" The old man picked up another starfish, showed it to the boy and said, "It does to this one." And then the old man threw the starfish into the sea.
