With the advancement of Technology, Pine Tree Junior High recognizes the need for Technology Education in the classroom. The 7th Grade Computer Lab is dedicated to give students opportunities to further their education using computer technology.
The lab is divided to accommodate 2 separate classes each period. Teachers of all subjects have the opportunity to bring their classes to the lab as an extension of the classroom thus incorporating technology with classroom activities.

Math, Reading, and English classes visit the lab regularly to enhance their TAKS preparation using Sleek – Incredible Tutor. This is a TAKS based program used as an aid in the preparation for the 7th grade Math, Reading, and Writing TAKS tests.

In addition to preparing for TAKS, the Computer Lab is used to to give students the opportunity to expand their technology knowledge using many programs that are available. This is just some of the programs available to students.
Word Processing - Students type many papers using Microsoft Word to teach word processing skills.
Slide Show Presentation - Students have the opportunity to present research papers in Microsoft PowerPoint
Art - Students have the opportunity to create artwork using Tool Factory Painter or Windows Paint. Many classes use the Art Programs for various projects. For example, the History classes uses an Art Program to draw a map of Texas showing the major cities and rivers (all drawn by freehand in the computer).
Virtual Science Lab - Science classes use the lab to work in Holt Science & Technology Interactive Explorations. This program allows Students to work many Science Labs in a Virtual Computer Environment.
Research - The Computer Lab is available to all subjects for project research. With supervision, the students learns valuable skills to research information for school projects using the technology of the internet.

Students with limited knowledge of the English Language have opportunities to work various programs that aid in furthering their knowledge of the English Language.
