Teacher Information
I am originally from Grand Rapids, Michigan, graduating from Calvin College in 2002. I then moved to Lawrence, KS in 2003 where I taught at a private school.  There, I taught several different subjects (social studies, history, math, speech, drama, keyboarding).  My husband and I moved to Longview in June 2008, after he got a job at Eastman Chemical Company.  I started at Pine Tree in the fall of 2008 as a math teacher.  We have a black labrador named Calvin who is two years old. Please email me if you have any questions this year! ejohnson@ptisd.org

Course Descriptions
TAKS Math Class Description

This course provides instructional support for students who need to be successful taking the Mathematics TAKS test. Instruction will be completed both in the classroom and in the computer lab. Students will be accessing a computer software program called Apangea Learning. Apangea is a skill-based problem solving process that teaches students how to break down problems into manageable steps.

Math Models Class Description

Mathematical Models with Applications is a practical course designed to teach students how to apply mathematics in business and consumer-related situations. A review of algebra I and geometry concepts will be the main focus in preparation for state assessment. Those students who have difficulty with algebra and geometry are highly recommended to take Math Models. Most topics of study involve the earning and spending of money in an economic society. Students will use programmable calculations and computers to investigate the relationship of graphs and the data they represent to interpret information. Students will be required to investigate, compare, and evaluate information to make and justify consumer decisions. This is not considered college-prep and is not one of the three math courses most colleges require for admission.
