Rules for active learning:

I am looking forward to a great year of excitement in the classroom. I prepare daily for your learning experience and I expect the same from you. Every minute in the classroom wil be focused on enhancing your learning experience. Be and active learner!
 
1.    Be responsible
        a.    refer to your six weeks calendar
                1.    paper calendar distributed in class
                2.    calendar on my website
        b.    know what is due and have it done
        c.    study before your come to class everyday
                1. learning must be cumulative
        d.    if you are absent, check your calendar and be prepared

2.    Be respectful
        a.    be on time, no excuse for tardies
                1.    entering late interrupts learning in progress
                        a.    disrespectful to me 
                        b.    disrespectful to entire class
        b.    CELL PHONES OFF AT ALL TIME
                1.    disrespectful for phone to ring during class
                2.    NO EXCUSE accepted
                3.    If you know you have a problem with usage             
                     a.    PLEASE place it in my drawer as you come in 
                     b.    NO LEARNING  occurs if using phone

3.    Be Thinking
        a.    think and question while you are reading
        b.    process and ask questions during class
        c.    study so you can think through questions 
                1.    on quizzes 
                2.    on tests
        d.    think continullay to insure long term learning
        e.    think about your grade daily so 
                1.    there will be no surprises at grading periods
                2.    there will be no panic for GPA                
                3.    You can do what is necessary to take care of things
