Poetry Presentations are oral presentations over the poet chosen for the notebook. Visuals are very good as is audio enhancement. The student is to tell about the poet’s background, read several poems by that poet. The presentation should be entertaining. If more than one student within the class has chosen a particular poet, then they may work as a group if they would like to do so. This presentation should reflect a group effort. Any materials needed for the presentation should be duplicated as notebook will have already been turned in to be graded.

Poetry notebooks must focus on a published poet. This notebook will be a double major grade for the 6th 6 weeks. Three-ring binders or scrapbooks are good to use for the notebooks. Do not use a spiral or a paper folder .

For a maximum grade of B (up to an 89), the notebook should include:

I. The notebook cover should be decorated
A title page included
Section I should contain:
1. A table of contents to begin the section.
2. All poems and papers on poems used with this project.
3. Each poem or series of poems should be illustrated

II. Section II should contain:

2. A table of contents for this section.
3. A one-page (minimum), typed paper over the background and works of the chosen poet with parenthetical references and a Works Cited page. See
4. All notebooks should include five (5) poems by the poet chosen. Each poem included in the notebook should
a. Have a copy of the poem itself rewritten--or copied--or off the net.
b. Be illustrated or decorated in some manner
c. Be explicated using the form given. If typed on the computer, the format should be followed.

For an A (up to a 100), students may include:

Five (5) more poems by the chosen poet. These are to follow the same procedures as 4 above and may be included in that section.
OR
