Classroom policies
1. Make-up work will be completed on the student’s time, before or after school. Make an appointment with the teacher. Students who will be absent for a school activity are responsible for collecting their assignments that will be missed and turning them in on the due date. If the absence is unplanned, one day of grace is given for each day of absence.
2. Late daily work turned in one class day after the due date will receive a maximum of a 70. After that, it will be a zero. Ten points per school day will be deducted for late labs, projects, and tests.
3. Workbook packet assignments will be handled some of the following ways:
a. Homework section will be graded at the beginning of class and grade recorded in grade book.
b. A quiz over the section completed for homework as a daily grade.
c. You will turn in the packet on test day and receive one daily grade for the entire packet.
4. Tutorials are at 7:40 each morning. Teachers will also be available from 3:30 to 3:50 each afternoon. No appointment is needed. Use this time to complete make-up work, receive extra help, review for tests, or ask questions.
5. Grades
60% summative, which includes major tests/projects
40% formative, which includes labs (20%) and daily work (20%)
6. Withdrawal from Pre-AP Biology into Regular Biology must take place during the first six weeks or at the end of a grading period. Students who drop Pre-AP at anytime during the year will not receive Pre-AP credit. Students who enter Pre-AP after the first six weeks will not receive Pre-AP credit.
7. Retesting. A student may retake one major test during each six-week grading period for a maximum grade of 70. The student must retake the test within 7 days from the day of the return of the original grade. It is up to the student to decide when they want to use the retest opportunity. During the 7-day remediation/reteach process (which will include make-up assignments, a review assignment, and tutorial attendance), the teacher and student will develop study skills, testing skills, and a testing schedule for the retest. This process is a requirement before the student is allowed to retest.
8. Notebooks will be kept by students and brought to class each day. Follow the instructions given to you by your teacher to organize your notebook.
9. Cheating Policy.
Cheating is the act of intent of GAINING OR GIVING knowledge for an assignment or test by fraudulent means. The penalty will be a zero for the assignment or test.
Please sign below to show that you are aware of the above stated classroom rules and policies. Return this paper with signatures and you will receive a second copy to keep in your notebook.

Cheating Policy for Biology students
Cheating Policy.
Cheating is the act of intent of GAINING OR GIVING knowledge for an assignment or test by fraudulent means. The penalty will be a zero for the assignment or test. This means it is considered cheating if you copy answers or give away answers for other students to copy inside or outside of class. We want to see your own work so that you can be a successful Biology student and get the help and support that you need!
Integrity and honor.
All students are asked to read, consider, and sign the following honor pledge:
I will do my own work to the best of my ability.
I will claim nothing as my work that is not of my own effort.
I will neither give nor receive test information on exam days.
