Volunteer Options:

Classroom Monitors


When: Weeks of January 9thand 16th
Where: 3rd and 4th Grade Classrooms
What: Volunteers will assist in monitoring the classroom while students are
working independently for approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes from 11:15 to
12:45pm. Teachers will be participating in activities outside the classroom, and a
caring adult is needed to help the students stay on task while the teacher is out of
the room. We will need approximately six volunteers each day.

Cafeteria/Recess Monitors


When: Anytime during the second semester beginning January 3, 2012, between
10:40am-12:40pm. Volunteers are needed for any length of time between
30 minutes to the full 2 hours.
Where: Cafeteria and/or Playground for 3rd and 4th Grade Students
What: Volunteers will assist in monitoring the students while they are eating lunch
and/or playing outside.

Tutor for Basic Skills


When: After school hours, during second semester beginning January 3, 2012,
between 3:30-4:15pm.
Where: Classrooms of 3rd and 4th Grade Students
What: Volunteers will assist in monitoring the classroom while students are
working independently. Activities are pre-planned for the tutor to work with one
students or a small group of students on basic arithmetic or reading skills. A
classroom teacher will also be working with students nearby and will be available
for questions and/or support.

Library Assistant

When: Anytime during the second semester beginning January 3, 2012, between
8:00am-3:00pm. Volunteers are needed for any length of time between 30
minutes to the full day.
Where: Campus Library for 3rd and 4th Grade Students
What: Volunteers will assist the librarian, Ashley McRuiz, Intermediate School
Librarian, Phone 903-295-5151 ext. 5

Watch D.O.G.S. (Dads Of Great Students)

When: Anytime during the second semester beginning January 3, 2012, between
7:30am-3:30pm. Fathers and/or Father-Figures are asked to volunteer for an
entire day. Call Christy McElyea, Assistant Principal, to sign up for a day.
Where: PT Intermediate Campus, 3rd and 4th Grade Students
What: Watch DOGS (or as we like to call them, Top Dogs) will be given a schedule
upon arrival to the school. Top Dogs help with a variety of activities within our
daily routine such as working with individual students and/or small groups of
students on basic arithmetic and reading skills, monitoring students in the
mornings prior to class time, lunch recess, and assisting with dismissal procedures
among other duties. We are looking for positive male role-models to be present in
our school who can mentor the young boys and girls without father figures present
in their lives.
