We have started MULTIPLYING!!! MANY students are lacking in this area and we MUST have you work on these memory facts at home! I wish we could spend valuable class time on these but can't! Please help! QUIZ your child NIGHTLY...become familiar with the weak facts for your student! Help them!

Mrs. Cobb's 5th Grade Math
Welcome to Pine Tree Middle 5/6!! My name is Jeanette Cobb, and I teach math. I have taught for 15 years and love teaching kids.

Each six weeks we will cover different math objectives and take a cumulative Benchmark test near the end of the six weeks. The benchmark test is reflective of your child's progress with TAKS objectives and a great indicator of how your child will perform on the Spring Taks test.

In addition to testing, your child's math grade will include daily work and quizzes. Please note that if your child makes below a 70 on a daily assignment, he or she is encouraged to redo the assignment, correcting the mistakes for a 70. Quizzes are a different matter. Students know a few days in advance of an upcoming quiz and are expected to study accordingly. NO redos are available on a quiz.

Homework is assigned each Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday. Please monitor and check prior to sending it back to school. If your child needs help on a homework assignment, feel free to work with your child at home. I believe strongly that you are your child's most valuable teacher! He/she may come in early for tutorials if there is a need for reteaching. Just send a note allowing your child to enter the building early.

A word about MULTIPLICATION FACTS: Have your child memorize them and maintain them!!! I will be getting in touch with parents whose child is significantly behind with the memorization of the multiplication facts. This is very important!

My email is jcobb@ptisd.org
My conference time is 1:00 until 1:45 p.m daily. Our school phone is 903-295-5160.

Staying in touch is key to your child's success. I look forward to working with you for the success of your child.

Sincerely,

Jeanette Cobb
