Hello! Welcome to my 5th grade ELA/Social Studies class! It's hard to believe that it is the fourth week of the second six weeks! Smile! My name is Jo Lynn McKnight and I enjoy exploring new worlds, ideas, and events through reading. Reading allows everyone to travel to the limits of their dreams. Outside of school, I love to ride horses, walk through the park, swim, and spend time with my family. I am involved with the choir and youth at Green Acres Baptist Church in Tyler.
The goals that I have for my students are to become more acquainted with books, their purposes and meanings and tie those experiences into their everyday lives. I want reading to be enjoyable and a fresh start to the world beyond their own boundaries of everyday life. What books did I enjoy growing up? ....I loved anything dealing with animals and nature. Smile! Reading truly influenced my life.

Joust is due in one month, February 3rd, 2012. The criteria for your AR Joust Reading have been handed out. This is a required reading program for the AGM team of students. At the end of the year, we will take a trip bowling, water park, or some other exciting location for those students that complete the program. The location for the end-of-the-year trip will depend on the amount of funding we receive from the AR program. We will be notified by the librarian as soon as her budget is cleared. Thanks for working hard and enjoy reading!!! Keep up with your Joust schedule and don't wait til the last minute! Smile! I can't believe it! I had a student turn in a wonderful Joust project already!
