Welcome to first grade. I want to begin the year by letting parents know a little about me. Longview is my hometown, but I left it for twenty years. I received my bachelor's degree from Stephen F. Austin State University in home economics. I taught homemaking 4 years and worked for the county extension service 3 years. I received my master's degree in elementary education from the University of Houston--Victoria campus. I taught kindergarten 10 years in South Texas, and this is my 18th year to teach first grade. My parents live in Longview. My household includes my husband and dog. My twenty-four year old son is in Air Force and stationed at Hurlbert Field in Florida. My twenty-five year old stepdaughter is a third year law student at Oklahoma City University.
