Lesson Plans
8/25: First day of school, check roll, get to know the kids let them know about the class.

8/26: OBJ: Define protestant reformation, discuss Spanish English war in late 1500s, and analyze ends of Spain’s golden age
Activity: Throw out some names, places and words see what they know, then have them go thru pages 78-82 to find out more about them. Do some selective reading from the section and discuss
Teks: 8.1b, 8.27a

8/27: OBJ: Reasons for colonizing N. America. Identify problems, what happened to first settlements.
Activity: Do a speed read of sec. 4 83-87. Put graphic organizer on board have students help fill in the columns together then individually. Do map activity pg 86.
Teks: 8.2a, 8.10a, 8.11c

8/28: OBJ: Establish Jamestown, Interaction with Indians, plantation system begins, role of indentured servants and slaves
Activity: Have 6 stations set up (split students up) they get 6 minutes at each spot to read a certain part of the section and take notes. Come together at the end of class and discuss what they wrote.

8/29: OBJ: Pilgrims define and explain Mayflower compact, life in Plymouth colony
Activity: Do a speed read of pages 98-102. Project copy of Mayflower compact on Elmo. Have students work together to put it into their own words. Read some student examples.
Hand out ch. 4 sec. 1 and 2 main idea wksht they have the rest of class to work on it if not finished becomes homework that is due on sept. 2.
