My top three priorities are: #1 SAFETY, #2 SAFETY AND #3 SAFETY!!! Nothing is more important than the safety of my students.

The first three to four weeks are devoted to completing the safety program. We discuss the study guide for machines and then I give a demonstration on proper operation. Each student is given an opportunity to perform a machining operation under my direct supervision.

Students are given time to study before taking a written safety test. Students must complete the safety program before they can participate in lab activities.

Manufacturing Techology is a one semester course for eigth grade students. Basic elements include drawing and reading plans, identification and proper use of hand tools and portable power tools, operating woodworking machinery. Instruction is given for squaring, sanding, staining, varnishing and assembly techniques.

After completing the safety program, students may present plans for an original project or pick from a selection of plans ranging from the simplistic to the challenging.
