Homework
We do work very hard at school each day; therefore written homework will be given on an as needed basis only. Children need time for outside activities and family time. However, reviewing your child's spelling words and math facts as well as their work contributes to your child's success. Please be aware that any work not completed during class time will also be considered homework and it is due the next day. This should take no longer than 15-20 minutes each night. Some nights I will send a Home Connection from our math curriculum as homework. It has games, activities, and written work to reinforce the skills learned in the classroom. As well as Home Connection, I will send a Motivation Math practice sheet home periodically to practice specific skills. Thank you ahead of time for your help in returning the Home Connection and the Motivation Math pages on the due date.
Also, I feel that the single most important thing you can do for your child this year is to encourage him/her to read and listen to your child read. Please read at least 20 minutes each night.
Reading Assignments
Once or twice a week I will send home an oral reading assignment with your child. Please listen to your child read the assignment and question them about what they read. It is also important that you sign the assignment sheet and have your child return it to school the next day or on the due date. Thanks for your help!
