Miss Wiesner's Classroom Expectations
My goal is to help your student reach their maximum potiential this year. We will strive to accomplish mathematical goals, but we will also learn organizational skills, responsibility, and social skills. The following information outlines our daily routine and other important information regarding math class.
Daily Routine
5-10min. Warm-Up: This time is used for the students to review the content taught the day before.

10-15min. Homework Help: During this time I allow the students to ask questions over the homework and we solve these problems together.

20min.- Introduction to New Material: We spend the majority of our classtime taking notes over the new objective and solving example problems.

10min.- Homework: If there is time remaining the students are allowed to work on their new homework assignment.
Classroom Rules
1. Be in your seat and ready to work when the tardy bell rings.

2. Sharpen pencils before the tardy bell rings, and begin working on your warm-up immediately.

3. Listen carefully and follow all directions.

4. During the lesson, obtain permission before speaking or leaving your seat.

5. Respect each other and all property that does not belong to you.

6. Complete assignments on time and keep papers filed neatly in your notebook.

7. Treat others as you want to be treated.
Math Notebook
Each student will be required to keep an organized 1" math notebook. Your notebook should have dividers with the following sections:

Warm-ups
Notes
Assignments
Quizzes/Tests
Graded Daily Papers

Students are expected to keep all papers neatly organized in this notebook. A notebook quiz can be given at any time to monitor studnets' progress with their organizational skills. These notebooks will be kept in the math classroom.
Assignments/ Homework
Parents should expect to see homework on Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday. I try to provide extra class time to finish all activities on Wednesday and Friday. However, if your child does not use this time wisely they may have an assignment to finish at home. ASSIGNMENTS MUST BE COMPLETED IN PENCIL. Papers completed in ink will receive a 30 POINT DEDUCTION. Warm-ups may be taken for a daily grade. It is your child's responsibility to keep up with their worksheets. If you students receives and EXTRA COPY they will receive a 10 POINT DEDUCTION.
Late Work
Late work will only be accepted for ONE WEEK from the original assignment date. The highest grade received for a late paper is a 70. After the one week date, the grade will remain a zero.
Make-Up Work
Any assignment below a 70 may be corrected on notebook paper and returned for a possible grade of a 70. All corrected assignments must be submitted one week before the end of the six weeks. If a student is absent, it is his/her responsibility to check the classroom calendar for their missed assignment.
Quizzes and Test
Quizzes can be given during the six weeks with or without notice. A benchmark test will be given at the end of each six weeks.
Math Textbooks
We are fortunate to receive new math textbooks. These books offer lots of extra practice, websites, examples, and homework assistance. If you would like for your student to complete extra practice, please select problems from their textbooks. If you need assistance in choosing extra practice problems, please contact me. I will be glad to help.
