PRE AP Art 2 Class
Pre-AP art is for students that have strong drawing ability and the desire to grow as an artist. It is a rigorous curriculum that focuses on building drawing, compositional, design and media skills.Students are expected to keep a sketch book for ideas and homework assignments.

Pre Ap Art will start the year with line exploration,contour drawing and building shading skills. We will produce a finished contour still life. We will develop compositional skills and review color theory by producing a small mixed media piece using drawing manikins as a subject. Human facial feature drawing will also be covered
Pre- AP 3
Pre-AP 3 is the next step for students wanting to continue to develop their art skills after Pre- AP art 2. This year concentrates on drawing as well as working in varied medias. Students become more independent as artists and most assignments are open ended to encourage development of unique solutions.
There are frequent demonstrations of materials and weekly group critique to monitor student progress and share ideas. Students are required to participate in art competitions throughout the year.
Pre- AP art 4
Pre- Ap art 4 is a continuation of the AP art program for students that have completed Pre-AP art 2 and 3. Students continue to develop knowledge of materials and produce work from open ended prompts and assignments. These students compete in VASE and local competitions throughout the year.
AP Senior Portfolio
This year students produce 12 finished pieces of artwork that explore a theme. Each student develops and explores a theme of their choosing. Students work independently with teacher facilitation and frequent critique of work(group and individual). Students will submit these and 12 additional works from past classes to AP board for final exam in May.
Students also compete in VASE and local scholarship competitions throughout the year.

Pre- AP Art 2
Students are working on shading skills and realistic facial features. This week we begin working with grid drawing and using skills learned so far to create a finished artwork utilizing a reference photo of a person(taken in class). Students will learn to grid and transfer image to a larger sheet of paper. They will finish the piece using shading skills.
Pre-AP Art 3
Using grid method, students will complete an artwork with extreme perspective using refernce photo. background is student choice and medium is student choice.
