Homework
We work very hard at school each day;therefore written homework will be given on an as needed basis only. Children need time for outside activities and family time. However, reviewing your child's spelling words and math facts as well as their work contributes to your child's success. Please be aware that any work not completed during class time will also be considered homework and it is due the next day. This should take no longer than 15-20 minutes each night. Some nights I will send a Home Connection from our math curriculum as homework. It has games, activities, and written work to reinforce the skills learned in the classroom. Thank you ahead of time for your help in returning the Home Connection on the day it is due. Also, I feel that the single most important thing you can do for your child this year is to encourage him/her to read and listen to your child read. Weekly reading assignments will be sent home with your child. Please sign the form and return the following day. Please read at least 20 minutes each night.

We go to the library as a class every Thursday. Your child will check out 2 books. The library books are the assigned reading for Thursday night. Ten snap words (sight words) will be assigned to learn each week. It is also helpful to review the sight words in the red folder.

Spelling tests are given on Friday. If Friday is a holiday, the test is given on Thursday.
