1. Safety in the work shop
a. Discuss safety rules and safety chapter in text.
b. Answer questions at end of chapter.
c. Safety test, everyone must make a 90 or better to work in the shop.
1. Common hand tools
a. Tool information hand out
b. Do tool hand out work sheet
c. Test on hand tools
2. Small engine theory
a. The difference between a 2 stroke engine & a four stroke engine

2nd six weeks

1. Parts of a small engine
a. Disassembly of an engine.
b. Name the different internal parts on an engine
c. Describe the function of each part
2. Assignment: disassemble an engine
a. Name all the internal parts of the engine
2. Reassemble the engine
4. Test on parts of a small engine

3rd six weeks

1. Work on projects
a. Students will work on different small engines in
the shop.
b. Students will diagnose and repair the engines.
2. Fuel systems
a. Carburetor operation
b. Remove and replace fuel filters



3. Marine technology
a. The difference between the out board motor and the power equipment engine.
b. The operation of out board motor.
c. The difference between an out board engine
and an in board engine.
4. Final exam

4th six weeks

1. Disassemble and reassemble an out board engine
a. Describe the different parts of the out board engine.
b. Remove the prop and foot and explain their function.
2. Work on projects in the shop
3. Welding with the Mig welder
4. Welding with the rod welder
5. Test on basic parts of out board engine

5th six weeks

1. Work in the shop on small engines and marine
engines
a. shop projects

6th six weeks

1. Shop projects
a. Students will work on different small projects in
the shop.
b. Finishing up projects that need to go out before
school lets out for the summer
c. Final exam
