Classroom Needs! |
*As the new school year begins please make sure your child has a backpack to carry his/her belongings to and from school. *Comfortable shoes are a necessity too. Your child does run and play at school everyday so please help them choose school shoes that are appropriate for an active 5-6 year old lifestyle. Remember our dress code does not allow flip flops to be worn at school. *Your child also needs a school box to keep his/her supplies organized. Please send to school as soon as possible. *Please send old magazines to school for ELAR activities. Your children will be searching the magazines for letters, words, pictures, etc. to complete various activities. Please tear any inappropriate pages out before sending to school. i.e. Alcohol and smoking ads, underwear ads, etc. Thank you!

Home Help! |
Thank you parents for the wonderful first five years of teaching your child! Without you my job is not possible. Together we will make this a fabulous year for your child. Please remember to help your child read the book(s) that are sent home throughout the week. These are books that have been completed at school and come home in the folder and backpack. Your child has practiced reading the book(s) but still may need some assistance when reading to you until they become a more fluent reader. Make sure too that you record the book on your child's reading log at the back of our communication folder. You can also help your child with Math activities by having them help you...sorting laundry-socks, underwear, etc. will help them find differences with like objects... setting the table before dinner...everyone needs a knife, fork, spoon, napkin. Simple tasks around the house can also make your child become more independent. Thank you again for all you do as a parent and teacher.

Reading News |
The first step in your child's reading success is for you to share good books together. As you read to your child ask questions about what you are reading and allow your child to find familiar letters and words. As he/she begins to recognize more and more star words, you will be able to transition from you reading all of the book to your child reading all or most of the book. Having a set time for the entire family to sit down and read will also help instill good reading habits. Make sure everyone is enjoying the reading time. If you or others are frustrated with the time your child will sense the tension and not enjoy it either. When time is short or life gets hectic, shorten the time for that day. Building a confident reader will insure your child's success throughout his/her academic career.
