By the end of Pre-Kindergarten, students are expected to:
Social/Physical Development
1. Work and play cooperatively.
2. Demonstrate independence in self-help skills (toileting, feeding, dressing, and hygiene) and problem solving skills.
3. Take responsibility for materials and property.
4. Demonstrate compliance with directions and follow rules.
5. Develop fine motor skills to use writing and cutting tools.
6. Develop gross motor skills to move with purpose (walk, run, peddle, jump, kneel, sit, catch, kick, throw, and climb)
Know about safety rules and issues.
7. Respect self and others using polite actions and words. (Demonstrates taking turns and saying please and thank you.)
Math
1. Sort objects by color, size, and shape.
2. Identify 11 colors.
3. Count objects to 10.
4. Recognize numerals 0-5.
5. Create simple patterns. (AB,AB)
6. Recognize circles, squares, and triangles.
7. Recognize positions of over, under, up, down, in and out.
8. Match objects one to one.
Language Arts
1. Listen attentively for at least 10 minutes.
2. Use sentences (3 or more words) to express wants, needs, and thoughts.
3. Participate in rhyming games and repeat songs and poems.
4. Participate in reading books.
5. Recognize 10 or more letters of the alphabet.
6. Write first name using upper and lower case letters.
