| School Readiness |
There are many things you can do to prepare you child for school. It is important to reinforce at home what your child learns ar school. Here are a few ideas:
*TALK TO YOUR CHILD- The more a child can say, the easier it is for him/her to learn to read.
*LISTEN TO YOUR CHILD- Encourage your child to tell you about the things he/she sees and does. Good talkers become good readers.
*READ TO YOUR CHILD- Reading aloud becomes fun for the child and he or she soon wants to read on his/her own.
*MAKE YOURS A READING HOME- If your child sees you reading books, magazines or newspapers, he/she will know that reading is an important value in your family.
*TAKE YOUR CHILD PLACES- Going to parks, on walks, to museums, or to stores all help to give your child new interests. Make these outings valuable to the child by pointing out intersting sights, and discussing with them with your child. Ask him/her questions and LISTEN to the answers.

Reading with Your Child |
Literature can provide hopurs of enjoyment for both you and your children, and can help your children to understand themselves and others in a new way. Child love to be read to, and reading a book together out loud- enjoying both the pictures and the story- is a rewarding and educational experience. READING IS ESSENTIAL TO SUCCESS IN SCHOOL!
The following are suggestions for using literature with your children:
*Plan a regular time for reading to and with your child.
*Find a comfortable place to read together. Select a book you think will be interesting to your child, or let your child choose the book.
*Let your child enjoy the illustrations of the book as you read.
*Children pick up repetion or pattern in a story very quickly. They may want you to read the story over and over.
*Let your child read to you. If he/she is not to that point, let your child "read" a picture book to you. |

Parent Opportunities |
|
Join PTA!
PTA is an excellent way for parents to become directly involved in our children's education. Become involved through membership, fundraising, volunteering in the classroom, and much more.
We love Parent Volunteers!
Parents are important people at our school. We offer numerous activities throughout the year that could not be successful without the participation of our parents. If you are interested in becoming a Pine Tree Primary volunteer please contact your student's teacher or the school office.
Volunteer Opportunities include:
Room Parent: Plan and organize classroom parties, be the contact person in the classroom for other parents.
Computer Lab: Our students attend the computer lab four days a week. This is your chance to be directly involved in your child's school activities.
Campus wide events like Texas Day.
Teacher Assistance- make cpoies and help with projects that the teachers will use in the classroom. |
