Helpful Parent Information
This website has been created to provide you with some information that I hope will be helpful throughout the school year.

ABSENCES

Anytime your child is absent from school, please send a note explaining the absence. If you would like to have any class work and homework, please call the school office by 10:00 a.m. Your child’s work will be available to pick up after 2:30 p. m.

A folder with makeup work will be given to your child on the day they return to school. Each student is allowed the number of days they were absent up to three days to complete the assignments and turn in to their teacher. It is the student's responsibility to turn in the work on time, or they will earn a late grade or a zero.

Office Phone: 903 295-5151

MEDICATION AND ALLERGIES

ALL medications (including cough drops) can only be administered by our school nurse. Please send her a written note so that she may administer it to your child. If your child has a health concern, please plan to visit with her directly so that she will better meet the needs of your child.
REMEMBER: Our school nurse cares for at least 700 students!
Contact Nurse Julie through the school office.

PHYSICAL EDUCATION / MUSIC

Your child will be involved in some form of physical education activity each day. Should you desire your child not to participate due to illness, recuperation, or injury, please send a written note.
Your child’s P.E. instructor will be Mrs. Gray.

BIRTHDAYS

Party invitations may be distributed if they include all of the children in our class. Your child may bring treats for the class after 1:00 PM.

I NEED TO REACH YOU

PLEASE send a note if your telephone or address changes during the school year. This is also needed in regard to place of employment so that we can reach you in case of an emergency.

LEAVING CAMPUS

If your child needs to be picked up during the school day, please send me a note with the approximate time. ALL students must be signed out through the office for their protection. Your child will be notified to meet you in the office when he/she has gathered any items that need to be taken home.

LUNCH OUR LUNCH TIME: 11:25 am - 11:55 am

If your child does not bring a lunch from home, please make sure that you have purchased lunch credits for the cafeteria. I would prefer that your child have lunch credits rather than money. You may purchase as many meals as you need and loss of money will, hopefully, not be a problem. Parents/Grandparents are welcome to join us. You may sit with the class or sit at the round tables near the cafeteria entrance.

SPECIAL CONCERNS

At some time during this year, your family may experience some difficult situations, such as death, divorce, severe illness, or a change in financial security. If you feel that this may impair your child’s ability to do well academically or socially, please call me. I will gladly work with you to assist your child during this period of time. Our campus has an excellent counselor, Ms. Maggie Soderberg, who can, also, offer one-to-one counseling of placement in a group with similar needs.

TRANSPORTATION

Children need to know how they will get home each day. Please communicate clearly with your child as to how he/she will get home when you make changes. If you will send a note with your child, this will help. It will be placed on our message board to remind us of this change.
