Parents/Guardians often ask, “How can I help?” There are so many ways to answer that question. Here are a few ideas!
* Study multiplication and division facts. (should be memorized with instant recall)
* Read a problem and try having your child make up a problem like it to solve.
* In the grocery store, have your child estimate the total cost of your items as you shop.
* Allow your child to measure different in your home in customary and metric units. Then have your child convert the measurement within the same system. Have him/her help you measure when you are cooking.
* Help point out fractions in any situation. Again cooking is a great example of fractions: (1/2 cup, 1/4
of a teaspoon, etc.)
* Read through your child’s math spiral together to review vocabulary and strategies.
* Have a contest where you both make up a problem with two to three steps, and the other person has to solve it.
* Work multiplication problems with a three-digit number multiplied by a two-digit number. (432 X 86= _______)
* Work division problems with a three-digit number divided by a one-digit or two-digit number. (364 divided by 23 =_____) (143 divided by 7 = _______)
