Newspaper Producation teaches skills necessary to produce a student newspaper. The Cutlass is a 20+ page tabloid-size newspaper produced each six weeks. Students can try out for a spot on the UIL journalism team which competes in News Writing, Feature Writing, Editorial Writing and Headline Writing.

Yearbook production and desktop publishing students learn how to gather news, take photos and design a 260-page book, The Buccaneer. Students will use digital cameras and learn InDesign and Photoshop. Journalism I is the beginning class for journalists. Students develop skills in photography, writing and design. They will also discuss ethics in journalism and the history of the press.
