Rules and Expectations

1. Conduct yourself in class so that you may learn and the students around you may learn. Be respectful, courteous, honest, and polite to everyone at all times.

2. Talking will not be permitted unless instructed by the teacher. Only one person at a time can be understood, so be courteous to others in the classroom.

3. The student will be considered tardy if he or she is not seated in the assigned seat when the tardy bell rings.

4. Come to class prepared with dictionary, workbook, notebook, homework, and other necessary materials.

5. Always remain in your assigned seat unless given permission by the teacher to leave it. Never get out of your seat when the teacher is talking.

6. No food, drinks or gum chewing will be allowed.

7. All rules stated in the handbook apply.

Homework
1. Homework is to be turned in on time. No late papers will be accepted. If a student is absent the day an assignment is due, the grade will be recorded when the student takes the unit test.

2. Any copying or cheating will result in a zero for the assignment. A zero received for cheating will not be made up and will not be dropped.

Tests
1. Absolutely no talking while a test is being given. All students deserve an equal opportunity for quiet concentration. During a test your backpacks will be at the front of the room.
If you fail a test and would like to re-take it, you may sign up on a list to re-take. I will offer a re-take either before or after school within one week of the original test. This will be your only opportunity! You must re-take the test within one week of the original test date. The re-take is often a different test than the original and the highest grade possible will be 70. You may re-take only one test each six weeks.
2. No other papers will be allowed on your desk during a test. Keep your test paper in front of you. You must use a cover sheet when taking all tests and quizzes. I will not answer questions during tests and quizzes. Any cheating will result in a zero for the test.
A zero received as a result of cheating will not be re-taken for a 70.
3. Extra credit: You will receive a restroom pass at the beginning of each six-weeks. It will have three - 3 pt. sections on it. If you do not use any of the points you can turn it in at the end of the six weeks for 10 pts. on a test grade. If you use the pass once you will receive 6 pts.- twice you will receive 3 pts. If you use all 3 chances you will receive no extra points.

Grades
Major grades will include unit tests and any projects assigned. There will be at least 3 major grades per six-week period. The major grades count as 75% of your six-week average.
Daily grades will be taken from homework, classwork, daily quizzes and class participation. Daily grades count as 25% of your six-week average.

Make-up Work
You will be given a syllabus. If you miss a quiz due to an absence you will not make it up. When we have a test over that unit, the test grade that you make will also be recorded for any missed quizzes. If you are present in class, you will have to take the quiz given that day regardless of absences so look at your syllabus! It is the student’s responsibility to obtain the missed assignments and to turn in completed work to the teacher. If you are absent the day before a test, but are present the day of the test, you will still have to take the test. Look at your syllabus!!!
