Hi and welcome to my English I and English II classes. I look forward to getting to know all of my students and their parents and hope that my students leave at the end of the year feeling prepared for the path before them. I have been a part of the Pine Tree family for nine years and hold a deep respect for this distinguished district. Over the years, I have taught multiple levels of high school English, Speech Communications, middle school English Language Arts, and junior high math. My qualifications include a bachelor's degree from Stephen F. Austin and a master's degree from Lamar University.

English I students will begin teir high school journey by learning various literary applications and through studying a variety of genres. They will also practice in-depth application of various writing forms with the focus being on a literary essay and an expository essay. This year's freshmen will be the first group to take the STAAR End of Course exam at the end of March. This two-day timed test is a rigorous examination of the mastery of literary application and timed writing. More information can be found at the following website: www.tea.state.tx.us/student.assessment/staar/

English II is a continuation and further fine tuning of the skills learned in English I with a greater placed on independent analysis. Writing continues through specific writing forms.
