This Week's Focus: Persuasive Writing
Various types of Poetry
We will be focusing for the next grading period on using our Writing Academy strategies we have been learning this year!
Students will be expected to use Brainstorming, Prewriting, Rough Draft, Editing and Revision and the Final Drafting in all their writing pieces.
We will be writing nonfiction pieces, writing procedures for different things, writing several pieces practicing persuasive writing skills, poetry and other genres. | |

Math |
Reviewing Concepts
This week our focus is reviewing many of our skills we have already introduced this year.
We are doing an intense review of Measurement this week as long as learning about measurement in regards to time and temperature.
We are always using our UPSc strategy (Understand, Picture/visualize, Solve, and Check)! You should see your kiddos doing this on both their homework and any papers coming home!!
Your child has a list of Math Vocabulary that they need to learn and study.
We will also review perimeter , area,Multiplication and Division as well as money!
Make sure your student is learning their multiplication facts! It is a neccessary evil!! Memorization is the key! If they can skip count- they can do any fact!

Reading & Vocabulary & Grammar |
Reading:
Guided Reading is everyday all week long. Students will work with me to focus on specific reading skills and tools to help them improve their reading levels.
Students will also participate in Work Stations while I work with classmates in small guided reading groups! We document and write at each station and then conference on Friday's! Ask your 3rd grader what they have been working on in their work stations!
** Please make sure to send Guided Reading folder, books, and documentation sheet to school daily!!***
AR: Students are responsible to be reading for AR each and every day! They may use classroom books, books I read aloud during the week, Bucket Books, and their own library books to accomplish their reading goals in AR for the grading period!
Whole Group Basal Reading Lesson:

Vocabulary: Look for this list in your childs homework packet! The words were sent home in your child's folder!
Grammar:
Focusing on: Contractions and reviewing Helping Verbs

We will introduce and learn about our solar system and how it effects us.
Students will learn about the planets, be expected to know the order of the planets and do a major take home project of the solar system! Fun subject this grading period in Science! | | |
