Classroom discipline problems can be a roadblock to effective teaching and learning. In order to provide a learning environment that is not only productive but stimulating and engaging to your child I must also insure that it is safe emotionally and physically as well. Therefore, discipline problems must be kept to a minimum and I will be utilizing the following plan.
Classroom Rules:
1. Listen to the teacher carefully.
2. Follow directions and procedures.
3. Work quietly.
4. Respect others (Be kind with words and actions).
5. Respect our classroom, our school, and others’ property.
Your child will start each day on the color green. Each time your child chooses to break a rule they will receive a verbal warning from me. I will give them three opportunities to abide by our classroom rules. The color will change to yellow after their second verbal warning. If I have to correct them a third time verbally then the color will change to red. The color for your child’s behavior will be marked daily in their Take Home folder. The consequences for broken rules are as follows:
GREEN: Excellent day! Good listening, good work habits, kind and respectful to others. Even with one warning your child will stay on green.
YELLOW: 2nd warning!! I have had to warn them more than one time. Loss of 10 minutes of recess. This is not a great day … but they need to do better tomorrow!
RED: More than 3 warnings!!! Loss of recess and a note or phone call home if warranted. If more severe behavior is displayed they will be sent to Mission Control or the Principal’s Office.
Thank you for your cooperation! If you have any questions or concerns please call or email me.

I will be sending home a green document with this discipline plan on it and a place for you and your child to sign showing that you read and understand our classroom rules, expectations, rewards and consequences. Please sign and return this document to me by the end of the 1st week of school. Thanks! |
